It was the dawn of a new day and birds opened up into song as the sun peaked into the valley chasing the twilight away. Yet it was a new day that would start, more or less, without him and that was an eerie feeling. Starscream stood alone by the box, admiring the beauty before him, saddened as the first rays of the sun which bathed the spot in which he stood did not warm him. He was several kilometres away from Cliffside in a remote hard to get area. He was worried if it was too remote for Trapper, and he also wondered if Trapper received the message.
He knew he should have simply walked to Cliffside, It was not all that far and it would have been sensible, logical in fact; instead he waited. He knew that he had all the time in the universe and waiting a little bit would not really matter to him, or so he thought. He observed the sun's gradual climb into the sky and watched as a bald eagle soared over head, flying through the valley, likely on a hunt. Th

There was one immediate advantage to being a ghost which Starscream found out almost by accident. Distance was not an issue. He discovered that he could travel from Cliffside to the Decepticon undersea base by simply wanting to go there. There had been a strange wrenching feeling as if he had teleported but he then found himself standing in the hallway across from his former residence. The flier experianced the sensation of vertigo as the room spun around him. For a moment it seemed to him as if the hall was blurring, as if he was trying to focus a camera aperture. Starscream raised his hands to his head as if to stop the spinning. The lights flickered rapidly for a second and as suddenly as it had started the hallway ceased its apparent motion. The ghost waited a few moments more for the feeling of nausea to subside before he took a tentative step toward the door.
As he moved forward, there was a tiny pop as if he broke a small bubble. He glanced a

The Seeker walked around his body trying to determine what he needed to do. Was it possible for him to possess his own shell? Could he feel and experience life as he had before by forcibly controlling it? Or was there a way for him to truly re-insert his spark and allow him to actually live once again? It was a question he was fairly sure had not been yet answered, although he was sure that it was being studied.
The Seeker paused and then crossed his arms and rubbed his chin. “If I am to repair myself - we'll need to get my body back soon, at least before dawn – that's about when the fluids will start to crystallise and it will render this project null and void.”
“Crystals...?” Trapper asked. She knew of the crystal stage but was not sure what problems they would pose. “How are they an issue?”
“They can't be flushed out. If they grow on the inside of the tubing, then you need to replace

Travelling in this form had some advantages - he easily kept up with Trapper's speed, drifting just behind as if he was a unseen shadow. The route was free of any other travellers so Trapper and her cargo went without problem. They were nearly at the foot of the mountains when the Seeker was growing bored and lonely. The travel was slow, he'd circled the planet if he were flying and she barely had driven a few hundred kilometres. Although he had a preference for being alone, Starscream did not enjoy total isolation. Over the course of her drive, the flier had attempted to talk to Trapper and tried to make her hear him; however, she did not respond. He was not sure if it was because she was distracted or that he was so far away from her frame of existence that there was no avenue of communication. In spite of that he continued with his commentary - it allowed him to push the emptiness away.
In spite of being a ghost, Starscream found himself

He lay on his back looking up at the sky through the shattered trees, feeling dazed and confused. The sounds of weapons fire could still be heard in the distance and the roar of jet engines as they flew nearby. He opened his mouth and groaned in dismay as he attempted to recall what had just transpired only a few moments before. He turned his head and the world spun strangely as he did so.
“Oh...” he murmured softly, his voice sounded a little strange to him. He finally had a recollection of what had occurred before; he had been shot - twice. He reached down and pressed his hands to his chest, he seemed okay, but he distinctly recalled that the second shot had been antagonising. Although it seemed brief, had never felt anything that intense before. What sort of weapon was it; something like his null rays? He was surprised if it was as he had some immunity to the effects to that type of energy. There had been something else... he turned his head

Overcast left the area shaking his head in frustration.
The perfect trophy, the perfect kill, and yet Trapper had stepped in to mess it up. He glanced behind and could see her standing in the forest. With another shake of his head he joined in with the Autobots in their fight.
Ironhide hide noticed the smaller bot coming from the direction that the Seeker had gone down in.
“Was that you who took flying varmint out?” the elderly Autobot asked.
Overcast smiled brightly, “Yeah I took him out, and I just made sure he's absolutely dead.” It wasn't a complete lie, he did shoot the Seeker down and Trapper confirmed his death. Overcast held up his hand to show off the spilled energon he had on it. “That wretch won't be troubling us anymore! Man it was exciting, did you see him go down? Took two shots to end that sucker, but Old Sparkbreaker and I did our job!”

The Goldfinch

Trapper knew it was the goldfinch situation all over again.
Yet, the Seeker was no delicate, innocent little bird this time. He was a large, tough Decepticon with millennia of keenly honed combat skills under his belt. A warrior, like many, who had committed acts of cruelty in the name of the Decepticon cause and who, like Overcast, appeared to enjoy what he did, or at least for a time. After viewing his home, she understood that there was still some sort of sanity left within him. It reminded her of a symbol she had seen while readying about earth and its cultures. The Yin and Yang symbol represented the duality of good and bad, and how interconnected they were to each other. That within every dark space of Yin was a spot of bright, and every Yang, sported darkness. She knew that within herself, she too had done things that could have been considered wrong in the name of the Autobot cause. Light and dark; life and death. An act of kindness, might

Overcast was not in the tent when Trapper woke up the following morning, the smaller Autobot left a message that he was heading out to scout the area. She was happy that he was out of her space, at least for a while. This gave her the privacy she needed to pull the Seeker's crate further along the river and drop a ghillie tarp over it to hide it. She hoped that Overcast would not stumble across it and try to open it. When she returned to her camp, her message beacon was buzzing incessantly.
“Trapper here,” she announced as she acknowledged it, taking a seat at the terminal.
“Trapper, we've been trying to get hold of you for the past thirty minutes,” Optimus Prime said with an edge of impatience.
“Sorry, Prime, I was outside... problems?”
“The Decepticons have attacked the Kancor Oil field, in northern Alberta, near Rainbow Lake. Its not too far from your outpost. We're on route with Skyfire, we would like you

Trapper returned from her walk about an hour later, Overcast was laying across a couple of crates reading a datapad, munching on some goodies. The fembot snorted and sat down at her computer to review any memos; however her fatigue caught up with her and she quickly dropped into a recharge cycle where she sat.
Overcast watched her for a while and had begun to doze off himself. Until he was startled out of his own nap when he heard the all-too familiar sound of a Seeker's engines as it flew off. The sound seemed amplified and reverberated off the surrounding mountains. Birds screamed in panic and took off into the sky.
The diminutive Autobot dashed from his position on top of the crates, and ran to the tent's opening. He grabbed out his binoculars and stopped to take a closer look. Sure enough he could see Starscream flying at full throttle almost straight up into the sky and very rapidly – as

The air was crisp and cold, it was already the heart of winter in Polyhex. The blue Sun was rising over the horizon and the stars faded into the brightening sky.
The causeway was lined on either side by Seekers of every colour with over a thousand in attendance, their king had died and they wished to see him off. The six pallbearers carried a full sized coffin between them, within this casket was the ammo box that contained the tiny fragments that Thundercracker had obtained. No one needed to know the truth that Starscream's remains had been stolen; those at the Nemesis base was asked to keep mum on the matter.
A flight of five Seekers made up of commanders who had learned under, or flown with Starscream at some point, took to the air.
Thundercracker readily agreed to fly the missing man position in Starscream's honour – Skywarp would take his place at the corner of the pall. The crowd of Seekers became silent as the flight, emitting blue, red and silver colou

The Seeker population was both a boon and a bane for Megatron. They were once one of the most numerous Cybetronian races who joined the Decepticon forces at the start of the war. A number sided with the Autobots, but for the most part, they went where the rest of their kind went -  this was the Seeker way. There was also a long standing resentment between the Seeker population and the ruling government of Iacon.  There had been a short war, so short history barely noted it. The great drifting cities that were built by the Seekers were crashed into plains and chasms by the non flying population of Cybertron. It was a mix of fear and ignorance that drove the Grounders to take action against the peaceful fliers. Soon after that Seekers became resentful of the Grounders – so when the war was brewing against the Iaconians and their restrictive ways, the Seekers saw fit to fight those who had wronged them in the past. This ultimately gave Megatron air superi

The other Seekers were already getting the Mess Hall set up to receive what was likely to be the entire Earth based Squadron. They were anticipating some grounders to poke in, however most grounders were not interested in Seeker rituals. Some may wish to pay their respects either way – if not to come for the flow of free engex. They wanted something to represent the fallen - a task that befell Starscream's wingmates.
Skywarp and Thundercracker stood in the doorway of Starscream's quarters, solemn and respectful, staring at everything inside it. They felt as if they were intruders trespassing in their commanders home – even knowing that he wasn't coming back did not dissipate the discomfort. Very rarely did they ever enter without Starscream being there and usually it was because Skywarp planned for some demeaning prank. This time there was no joke in play – they had some serious business.
This space had been Starscream's home for nearly fifteen

Starscream arose early; the communication buzzer bleated incessantly until the Seeker acknowledged it. He groaned as he slammed his fist on the table next to his platform, silencing the buzz while activating the communications. A holographic image of Megatron's sinisterly smiling face popped up over the projector. The clock next to the image displayed 0500 earth-time - it was far too early for this. The Seeker was glad Megatron could not see him. He felt as if he had spent the night binge drinking, and likely looked that way as well.
“Megatron, sir?” He managed to choke out, his voice cracked and then he yawned widely.
“I see you are finally awake, Air Commander. I need you to report immediately to the ground-bridge chamber,” Megatron said with a smirk knowing that the Seeker was barely awake -likely not even out of recharge.
Starscream muttered an acknowledgement and agreed that he would be there shortly. The flier did not want to get up imm

Nemesis had relayed Trapper's message to Starscream. The flier paced the main living area, his hands grasping at his head as if to yank it off. “This is a disaster!” he cried out. “Everything is crashing down around me because of one literal misstep. I got strung up like a slarg and bleated like a sacrificial lamb.”
“She is choosing to believe you,” Nemesis responded. The computer's hard light form sat on a chair he had carved out of a massive stalagmite. “That is a big step for someone who less than twenty-four hours ago wished to kill you.”
“She still does - and how can I trust her?” he snapped anxiously.
“She offered you back your arms,” Nemesis replied. “That is usually a first step in trust.”
“My knife, I only got my slagging knife back,” he replied holding it up. Although it was his favourite and well used, it was not his null rays, and he did not actually have a f

Trapper slid down the rocks leading away from the Seeker's hideout. Small stones flowed down next to her as she slid, for a moment she wondered if an avalanche would ensue, but not this day.
When she reached the valley floor she glanced up and behind her to see if the Air Commander of the Decepticons followed; he did not. She supposed he had no actual quarrel with her - perhaps not nearly as much as she had with him. Satisfied that she was not being perused, she ran through the trees to the river and followed it upstream to her camp.
Her desire to stash away the Seeker's weaponry in order to preserve her stay in the wilderness caused her to question her sanity. Was she actually betraying her side so she could hang out longer in the woods?  What motivated her desire to let him go? Did she actually believe his words of wanting the war to end and seeing peace. She admitted that she felt him to be genuine, but was unsure what gave her that impression. This

The sun started to rise. There were a few clouds in the heavens that picked up the dance of colours, first purple then into hot pinks and finally golds that faded into the brilliant blue of the daytime sky.  The morning star, the planet Venus, which shone briefly upon the camp blinked out of sight and birds launched into their morning chorus.
A beam of warm sunlight had snuck into the tent through a gap in the canvas and gently caressed the wing tip of the sleeping Seeker. Startled at the odd change of temperature in his extremity, he woke up. Surprised that he had relaxed himself enough to have fallen asleep in the presence of a dangerous enemy. Usually that did not happen; then an ugly thought occurred to him - unless the wafer he had received was laced with something that would send him out for a short time. That was not an uncommon practice. He cursed himself for falling for it. He knew she could have easily shot him while he was resting. He felt awkward, havi
